Kelvin Bossman, Reading's Ghanaian youngster, is making waves at youth level for club and country
"Claude Leroy (Ghana's coach) has been impressed by what he's seen so far and he will definitely have him in mind if he continues progressing at the rate he is," Bossman's agent Andrew Augustus said. "He's got the right attributes and attitude, and he's been helped a lot by Proglobal's welfare advisor Lovette Quartey." A quick, direct striker, Bossman has been called up by Ghana's Under-17's to represent them at the upcoming African Championships. Background"I've been in England for practically six years now," Bossman told eurosport.co.uk. "I only started football when I left primary school and have been with Reading for four to five years. I learnt to play football here. Before I left Ghana I never played football - I did athletics, 100 metres mainly. I don't really do that any more as I don't have time with training and schoolwork." Style of play"Managers say that I'm really quick, they tell me to get the ball and run at defences. "But I enjoy the physical side of it too." Heroes"I love watching Thierry Henry - I've tried to adapt my game to his style. I'm trying to emulate him. "I also look up to Didier Drogba, because of his strength and his goals&hellip and I support Chelsea!" "At Reading one player in particular that I admire is Kevin Doyle. "He's such a hard-working player and he's helped me a lot because I want to be like him - a hard-working player off-the-ball, defensively, chasing back when I haven't got possession. "I'm working on that side of my game at the moment." Short-term goals"This season I want to take my opportunity with Ghana but when I get back I just want to play more games at youth level for Reading. "My target over the next few years is to break into the Reading first team aged 17 or 18." Long-term goals"I have been called up for the Ghana Under-17s. Although I would probably be eligible to play for England, specifically I'm looking to play for Ghana. "During the World Cup I was supporting Ghana; it was great. They helped improve the image of the country, for football and as a whole. "Ghana was missing someone to put the ball in the back of the net though, and we had lots of opportunities, especially against Brazil. "That's my goal long-term, to represent Ghana and it can be achieved but only with a lot of hard work and determination." Ghana's senior squad face Nigeria at Brentford's Griffin Park ground on Tuesday night. View this news article at Eurosport.com View Player Profile Portuguese ace eyes Watford F.C. moveEXCLUSIVE! Portuguese ace Gonçalo Pereira has told eurosport.com he hopes to sign for Watford before the transfer window closes. The Clube Atletico de Portugal player has been on trial at Vicarage Road and says it would be a "dream" to seal a contract with the Hornets.
"It has always been my dream to play in the Premiership," he said. "I like the passion and the physical side of the game. I would give anything to play there." Of the last two days, spent training with the Hornets, he said: "It has been really good, I have learnt a lot, but I do not feel out of my depth." He featured in Atletico's recent stunning Portuguese Cup victory over Porto, but has spent the last three days training with the Premiership basement club. "It would be great to face Academica in the last 16," he admitted. "But it is more important to impress at Watford." Gonçalo only started playing as a professional last season, after completing his university studies in Lisbon, and is keen to work as hard as he can to secure a move to England: "I was training twice a day while studying at nights and on my days off," he said. "But now I am just focused on resolving my future." Proglobal RepresentationThe player is represented by Andrew Augustus, of Proglobal Sports, and he thinks the player can do a job in the Premiership: "He is very good in the ball and is a decent header of the ball too," he said. "We hope to find him something immediately, although his club will let him go on a free so we could do something outside the transfer window."
